It’s SZA SZN BA-BY! Recently, SZA dropped a brand new solo track “Hit Different” featuring Ty Dolla Sign. Of course, my nostalgia-obsessed self had to take a stroll down memory lane and remind herself of her incredible catalog. My favorite SZA songs and features are down below. Let’s listen to dope music together.
1. Child’s Play – SZA feat. Chance the Rapper
“Child’s Play” blew College Nia’s mind. I used to blast this joint in my dorm all the time sophomore year. Two of my favorite artists on a song, together?? *faints*
2. Ronnie Drake – Isaiah Rashad feat. SZA
“Ronnie Drake” is yet another banger that put two of my favorite artists together. This was lowkey the track that I’d play when college boys used to slide me the aux cord. I was heavy on the, “pick me because I have good music taste” wave LMAO.
3. Julia – SZA
I wanted to dance around my dorm room and throw glitter in the air while listening to Julia.
4. Drew Barrymore – SZA
Top 2 and it’s not 2. Do you ever hear a song and think the artist is spilling your soul? And, she got the good sis Drew Barrymore in the video. Never Been Kissed herself! We love to see it!
5. The Need to Know – Wale feat. SZA
Man, the complexities of trying to get with your close friend. We all have experienced how weird that can be — am I right? (No, it’s just me? Okay…)
6. Normal Girl – SZA
This is an awkward black girl anthem for sure. 10% of my entire life was spent wondering why I’m not normal like the rest of them.
7. Caretaker – DRAM feat. SZA
How do two artists whose names are written in capital letters make a song that’s so soft and smooth?
8. All the Stars – Kendrick Lamar & SZA
When I heard this song the first time I saw Black Panther in theaters I legit cried. There’s something so special about feeling seen after a lifetime of being ignored and tossed aside.
RIP Chadwick Boseman. 🙁
9. Love Galore – SZA feat. Travis Scott
Ever since this song came out, I swore to myself I would recreate SZA’s outfit in a Halloween costume. Sadly, I haven’t done it yet. Maybe this year?
10. I Do – Cardi B feat. SZA
We love when bad bitches link up! I had been wanting SZA and Cardi to do a track together, but I’m ready for another one now. 😉
I’m super excited about the new SZA project, whenever it drops. In the meantime, I’m going to listen to “Hit Different” about 56 more times.
