After being a witness to the controversial, yet stellar video that sparked the internet on fire, Childish Gambino’s This is America, I knew I wasn’t the only one who noticed the one and only kinky hair killa, SZA, at the end of the video.

My first thought was that it probably didn’t mean anything. You know, it’s not out of the blue to see cool black people hanging out in the same place. But my second thought though….was that there was a chaotic alternative hip-hop/R&B cinematic universe forming. Like the MCU, but black.

And after watching SZA’s newest music video, I feel as though my assumption was at least 86% correct.

The ethereal, nature-filled video features Donald Glover (a.k.a Childish Gambino) and showcases SZA dancing around and exuding that black girl magic that’s undeniable. Half of the video is SZA and Gambino cuddling and gazing into each other’s eyes, and I can’t say that I’m mad at all. The aesthetic of the video is very much a pale, nature Tumblr blog, which is obviously why I was so drawn to it. It’s very pleasing to the eyes from the scene of the cascading waters of a beach to the trippy kaleidoscope effect sprinkled throughout a section of the video.

Why is nobody talking about the consistency that SZA’s providing with these dope ass videos? From Doves in the Wind to Broken Clocks, everything has just been killer lately. That TDE stamp is golden y’all, golden.

My only question is: who’s next in the AHRBCU (alternative hip-hop and R&B cinematic universe)? Are we going to see these collaborations happening more often? Is there going to be a string of music videos with some elaborate, yet captivating storyline? Will Thanos make everyone slip away in the end? Only time will tell.

Tell me what you think of SZA’s new video down below, and if you think my assumptions are correct. And, while you’re down there, tell me what you thought of Infinity War. I know you saw it. Thanos don’t need your silence anymore.
