In a lot of ways, February is one of my favorite months. First off, it’s Black History Month. Black history is my favorite kind of history and I always find out something new in February about my culture. Even though I’m knee-deep in the culture 25/8, I always need a little bit extra in my life. I still don’t appreciate the fact that Black History Month is the shortest month of the year, but I think there’s a deeper meaning for that that I won’t go into on this blog post. Just know, that I’m quite the conspiracy theorist.

I have a love/hate relationship with Valentine’s Day. As a child, I used to adore the season. There’s nothing that made my heart flutter more than seeing my cubby in elementary school filled with free candy. On the other hand, I have a ton of stories of me getting curved on/or around Valentine’s Day as I got older. You live and you learn I guess. Now that I’m older, I appreciate it more (especially thanks to my lovely boyfriend). So, now I embrace Valentine’s Day as fully as my heart can muster.

In my brain, stepping into February also means one step closer to Spring and one step farther away from the cold weather. The strange warm days have been teasing me lately, and all I can think about is summer. But, I’m going to try and live in the moment. February 2018 only happens once, so I’m going to thrive and accomplish all of my goals.

What are you trying to do this February? What are your Valentine’s Day/Black History Month plans? Let me know in the comments section below.
