A MAKEUP BEGINNER’S LOOK AT FENTY BEAUTY

I’ve always wanted to be a bad gal.

Now, I’m by no means a beat-my-face-and-look-like-a-majestic-unicorn type of chick. At 22 years old, I still haven’t mastered the art of eyeliner.

Eyeliner, people.

(I know that’s mascara, but this emotion is real for me when it comes to makeup period.)

But, what I am and always will be is a Rihanna stan. Like every other conscious human being on this planet, I love Rihanna and all of what makes Rihanna Rihanna. She’s her own woman, and she doesn’t take any B.S. from an-y-one.

When I peeped that she was coming out with her own beauty line, I was shook. But, when I saw this intro video I was on it like white on rice.

Can you say diversity???

Can you say inclusion???

CAN YOU SAY AMAZE-BALLS?

I was literally gagging. My wig was suddenly across the room in shambles and my edges were slowly dripping away from my hairline. But, I loved every second of it.

I was already making sure that my coin was in formation. It wasn’t, but I tried. That’s the point. And then, a girl saw the shades! (Most specifically, the latter half)

Can you say diversity??

Can you say inclusion??

CAN YOU SAY COLORS THAT ACTUALLY WOULD FIT MY SKIN TONE??????

As a melanin-blessed individual, finding the right color for my skin tone (whether it be foundation, concealer, etc.) is near impossible. Thank God for beauty gurus on YouTube, because there’s no way that I’d have any idea of what would work without them. Even with their respected co-sign it’s still a crapshoot. I knew my girl Rihanna would come through.

And look! She got me, just like I knew she would.

Then, I saw the prices for Fenty Beauty.

After lusting over the Puma/Fenty collab and almost passing out over the prices of those kicks I had no idea what the prices of the Fenty Beauty collection would be. But, this isn’t bad. I still got to get my coin in formation, but not as much as I thought I would have to.

At this point, I’m not so sure what I’m going to cop. (Probably the Lip Illuminator, because who wouldn’t want their lips to be glowing out here in these streets.) But, I know I’m going to scoop something.

This’ll be the first time I’ll be heading into a Sephora in years, but I know it’ll be well worth it. I’ll be sure to let y’all know how that goes.

Are you as excited for Fenty Beauty as I am? What products are you most excited about?
